Janet McTeer
Biography
Janet McTeer is an English actress who studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made her professional stage debut in 1984. She earned an Olivier nomination as Best Newcomer for The Grace of Mary Traverse, and in 1997 she won both the Olivier and Tony Awards for playing Nora in A Doll's House. Her film career brought two Academy Award nominations, for Tumbleweeds (1999), which also won her a Golden Globe, and for Albert Nobbs (2011). She has appeared in Carrington (1995) and Velvet Goldmine (1998), as well as Songcatcher (2000), As You Like It (2006), The Woman in Black (2012), and The Menu (2022). On television she starred in The Governor, was nominated for an Emmy for Into the Storm (2009), and appeared in Damages, The White Queen, Jessica Jones, and Ozark. She was appointed an OBE in 2008.
