Padraic Delaney

Padraic Delaney is an Irish actor who came to screen work by way of the stage. Born in Adamstown, he studied drama and theater studies at Trinity College Dublin, graduating in 2001. His early stage roles, in plays including Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream, led to television parts in Pure Mule and The Clinic and a lead in the RTÉ series Legend. International attention came with The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006), Ken Loach's Palme d'Or winner at Cannes, in which he played the revolutionary Teddy O'Donovan; the part brought him two IFTA nominations and made him Ireland's Shooting Star at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival. He played George Boleyn in Showtime's The Tudors, appeared on stage in Doubt: A Parable at the Tricycle Theatre, and later acted in Perrier's Bounty (2009), Blackthorn (2011), The Man Who Knew Infinity (2016) and the series Knightfall.
