Biography

Geena Davis is an American actor who moved from modeling into film when Sydney Pollack cast her in Tootsie (1982). The science fiction horror The Fly (1986) gave her an early box office hit, and Beetlejuice (1988) brought her wider notice, while The Accidental Tourist (1988) won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She became a leading lady with Thelma & Louise (1991), which earned her a Best Actress nomination, and A League of Their Own (1992). Later films include Cutthroat Island (1995), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), the Stuart Little franchise from 1999 to 2005, Accidents Happen (2009) and Marjorie Prime (2017). On television she played the first female US president in Commander in Chief, winning a Golden Globe, and had a recurring role in Grey's Anatomy. She also executive produced the documentary This Changes Everything (2018).
