Richard Anderson
Biography
Richard Anderson was an American actor who worked in film and television. Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, he moved to Los Angeles and appeared in high school plays before training at the Actors' Laboratory Theatre, which opened the way to radio and stock theater work. In 1950 he joined Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as a contract player, appearing in The Magnificent Yankee (1950), The Student Prince (1954) and Forbidden Planet (1956) as Chief Engineer Quinn. He played the prosecuting attorney in Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory (1957), and Seven Days in May (1964) cast him as a military officer viewed with suspicion. On television he was Lieutenant Steve Drumm in Perry Mason's final season, then became known for playing Oscar Goldman in The Six Million Dollar Man and its spinoff The Bionic Woman from 1974 to 1978, reprising the role in Bionic Ever After? (1994). In 2007 the Palm Springs Walk of Stars honored him with a Golden Palm Star.

Early training
Before he became a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer contract player in 1950, Anderson trained at the Actors' Laboratory Theatre, which opened doors to radio and stock theater work.
Behind the camera
Anderson worked as a dialogue coach on Stanley Kubrick's Paths of Glory, in which he also played the prosecuting attorney, and he admired Kubrick's focus on the shot.
A change of course
Anderson also worked as a spokesperson for Shell Oil Company in the United States. He was called the Shell Answer Man and appeared in commercials from 1976 to 1982.
