Plot summary
David Stratton is a senatorial candidate whose wife, Virginia, is visiting relatives in San Francisco. He comes home one night to find a young woman, Jody, asleep in his daughter's bed. Jody has escaped from a juvenile detention home; David listens to her story, buys her a dress, gives her money and puts her on a bus. He then learns that she is a wanted fugitive. Jody returns to the house and refuses to go, warning that she will cause a scandal if he tries to force her. David lets her stay. Three friends of hers arrive, among them Ron and Buck, and the men bully David into allowing a party in his home.
