Biography

Molly Ringwald is an American actress and writer who began as a child on Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life. Born in Roseville, California, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for Tempest (1982), then became a teen idol in John Hughes's Sixteen Candles (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985), and Pretty in Pink (1986). She starred in The Pick-up Artist (1987), For Keeps (1988), and Fresh Horses (1988), and in the 1990s appeared in Betsy's Wedding (1990), Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999), and French films. On television she had main roles in The Stand, Townies, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and a main role on Raising Expectations, with a recurring part as Mary Andrews on Riverdale. Later films include Jem and the Holograms (2015), Siberia (2018), and The Kissing Booth series (2018 to 2021). She has also translated books from French and released a jazz album.
