Plot summary
Doug Gordon plays college baseball well enough to have a future in the pros, but he is studying sports medicine so that he has something to fall back on. His mother is still grieving after his father's death. At a party Doug meets Melissa Nelson, a spoiled rich girl who is also the teaching assistant for one of his classes, and she tutors him. Doug's girlfriend, Laura, is an aspiring journalist with a place at Stanford. Doug and Melissa grow too close, and Melissa will not accept that she cannot have him. She begins to stalk him, and her behavior grows more disturbing.
