Plot summary
The summer after graduation, Elle Evans, her boyfriend Noah Flynn, her best friend Lee Flynn, and Lee's girlfriend Rachel gather at the family beach house their parents have put up for sale. Elle has a place at Harvard, where Noah is headed, and at Berkeley, where Lee is going, and has not chosen. Picking Harvard upsets Lee, so she promises him the summer of their beach bucket list. Chloe, Noah's friend, arrives at the house, and Marco Peña, the boy Elle kissed, takes a job nearby. Elle's father has a new girlfriend, Linda, and Elle struggles to accept her. Noah is already hunting for an apartment for the two of them.
