Plot summary

Kate is about to join her art history classmates for a field trip that offers extra credit when her parents tell her they can no longer pay for her college education. After a morning at a museum, the class stops for lunch; Kate and Abby skip the food and eat the granola bars Abby brought. On the road again, everyone but the two of them falls ill, and the teacher checks the class into a motel to recover. Abby notices an envelope on the counter marked for Viceroy and Monarch. Ari, who runs a roller skating rink, hires Wheels to drive two art thieves by those names to a painting Ari plans to sell, and tells him to pick them up at that motel. Bored, Kate and Abby slip out, and Kate books a ride under those names.
