Jennifer Garner
Biography
Jennifer Garner is an American actress who grew up in Charleston, West Virginia, studied theater at Denison University and began her career as an understudy with New York City's Roundabout Theatre Company. After a lead role in the Fox teen drama Time of Your Life, she had small parts in Pearl Harbor (2001) and in Catch Me If You Can (2002), then became known as the secret agent Sydney Bristow on the ABC thriller Alias, which ran from 2001 to 2006 and earned her a Golden Globe and four Primetime Emmy nominations. Her first leading film role was in 13 Going on 30 (2004), a romantic comedy that critics widely praised, and she went on to star in Juno (2007), Valentine's Day (2010) and Dallas Buyers Club (2013). She played Elektra in Daredevil (2003), Elektra (2005) and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), and her later work includes Peppermint (2018), Yes Day (2021) and The Adam Project (2022).

Getting ready for a role
Garner took French lessons and trained with vocal and movement coaches to get ready for Roxanne, the part she played at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway alongside Kevin Kline as Cyrano de Bergerac.
Beyond film
In the 2002 Alias episode called "Rendezvous", Garner performed a version of "Since I Fell For You", and she wrote her own lyrics for that song.
Early training
Garner began at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, in 1990, and while there she switched from chemistry to theater, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater performance in 1994.

Garner plays the saxophone. She picked up the instrument while she was a member of her high school marching band.
