Plot summary
Phil and Sandy Mason move to Palos Verdes, California, with their teenage twins, Medina and Jim. Phil likes the parties and the travel. Sandy likes to stay inside in a pink bathrobe. She does not fit among the fake tans and tennis skirts, and her mood swings are difficult to handle. Medina is a loner at school, while Jim is popular without effort. The twins take up surfing. A local gang, the Bayboys, keeps their stretch of beach to themselves, so Medina and Jim have to prove they belong on those waves.
