Plot summary
Connor Mead is a famous fashion photographer who dates many women at once, and he ends three relationships together on one conference call. He travels to Newport, Rhode Island, for his younger brother Paul's wedding to Sandra, held at the estate of their late uncle Wayne. Jenny Perotti, the one woman Connor ever truly cared for, is there as well. His drunken speech at the rehearsal dinner, a pass at Sandra's flirtatious mother Vonda and an unintended slight to Sandra's stern father, Sergeant Volkom, upset the gathering. The ghost of Wayne, the playboy who taught Connor his ways with women, appears and announces that three ghosts will come for him.

- Warner Bros. was not the first home for the story: back in 2004 Touchstone Pictures had it set up with Ben Affleck to play the womanising lead and Kevin Smith directing, and Betty Thomas was attached to direct at another point. Both Affleck and Smith walked away and Disney killed the project.
- The chapel where Jennifer Garner's character marries another man is the Martha-Mary Chapel in Sudbury, Massachusetts, built by Henry Ford in honor of his mother and mother-in-law. It stands on the grounds of the Wayside Inn, which dates from 1716 and is the oldest operating inn in the United States.
