Plot summary
Elektra Natchios is killed and revived by Stick, a blind martial arts master who teaches her Kimagure, an art of precognition and resurrection. Her rage over her mother's murder keeps her from mastering it, and she is expelled from his compound. She becomes a contract killer. Years later her agent McCabe brings her a large offer from a client who withholds his name and asks only that she wait a few days in a rented house on the island where the killing will happen. There a girl, Abby, tries to steal a necklace, and Elektra sends her away. Later she meets Abby's father, Mark Miller. Abby invites her to Christmas dinner. Elektra takes a romantic interest in Mark, then learns that Mark and Abby are her targets.

- Director Oliver Stone signed on to direct an Elektra film and wanted the volleyball player, model and actress Gabrielle Reece to star as Elektra. That project was canceled after the rights to the character were sold to 20th Century Fox.
- Bowman said the film came "literally 12 frames of film from an R-rating", because the MPAA objected to several of its death scenes.
- An email released because of the Sony Pictures hack showed Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter citing Elektra as an example of an unprofitable female-led superhero film. He wrote: "Very bad idea and the result was very, very bad."
