Ian McNeice
Biography
Ian McNeice is an English actor who trained at Taunton School, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and Salisbury Playhouse. His early career was in theater, including four years with the Royal Shakespeare Company and a Broadway production of Nicholas Nickleby. He broke through on television as Harcourt in Edge of Darkness and later played Gustave LaRoche in Chef!, Bert Large throughout Doc Martin and the Newsreader in Rome. He was Baron Vladimir Harkonnen in Frank Herbert's Dune and its sequel Children of Dune. His films include The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain, 84 Charing Cross Road, No Escape and Day of the Dead, while Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) marked his American breakthrough. He also appeared in Conspiracy (2001), Around the World in 80 Days (2004), White Noise (2005), voiced Kwaltz in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005), and played Winston Churchill in Doctor Who.
