Jonathan Coy
Biography
Born in Hammersmith, Jonathan Coy is a British actor who has worked in television since 1975. He became known for playing Henry in the legal series Rumpole of the Bailey and Bracegirdle in the Hornblower adaptations of C. S. Forester's books. His early television work included Kurt in Brideshead Revisited and Colin Grove in The Sandbaggers in 1978. In 2001 he appeared in the television film Conspiracy as Erich Neumann, a director in the Office of the Four-Year Plan, and later had a recurring role as George Murray, Lord Grantham's lawyer, across all six seasons of Downton Abbey; he played Murray again in Downton Abbey: A New Era. On stage, he was Lloyd in a 2008 UK tour of Noises Off, Leonato in a 2011 Wyndham's Theatre Much Ado About Nothing with David Tennant, and Colonel Luykin in The Magistrate at the Royal National Theatre from 2012 to 2013. He also portrayed Henry VIII on BBC Radio 4 in 2003.
