Plot summary
The musical is staged in a primary school assembly hall, where the children form the chorus and the teachers and staff play its characters. Jacob has twelve sons and favors the second-youngest, Joseph, giving him a coat of many colors. Joseph reads his own dreams as a sign that he is destined to rule over his brothers, which deepens their jealousy. They throw him into a pit of cobras, then decide to sell him into slavery instead, and in Egypt the wealthy Potiphar buys him.
