Plot summary
During a 24-hour quarantine exercise in a small Colorado town, Corporal Sarah Bowman leaves her post and goes with Private Bud Crain to check on her sick mother. Her brother Trevor and Nina tell her a flu-like illness is spreading, and that their friend Kyle had a heavy nosebleed that morning. Sarah and Bud visit Kyle's home and find his parents' mauled bodies. She calls Captain Rhodes about the danger, then returns to gather Trevor, Nina, and her family and take them to the Medical Center. At the crowded hospital, the sick become motionless and then turn into violent zombies, forcing Sarah and the others to escape.
