Elizabeth Perkins
Biography
Elizabeth Perkins is an American actress who began in theater and became known for film comedies and dramas as well as television work. Raised in Colrain, Massachusetts, she trained at DePaul University's Goodman School of Drama and made her Broadway debut in Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs in 1984, later performing with the New York Shakespeare Festival and Steppenwolf Theater. Her film debut came in About Last Night... (1986), and she broke through opposite Tom Hanks in Big (1988); critics praised her work in Avalon (1990) and The Doctor (1991). She played Wilma Flintstone in The Flintstones (1994) and appeared in Miracle on 34th Street (1994), 28 Days (2000), Finding Nemo (2003) and The Ring Two (2005). From 2005 to 2009 she played Celia Hodes on Weeds, earning three Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations, and she later appeared in GLOW and Sharp Objects.
