Plot summary
Bull, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in Chicago, humps whatever catches his interest, and his friends Rocco, Fetch and Lucky have all been neutered already. Sterling, a Borzoi show dog, mocks them for it. Bull has a crush on Honey, the Borzoi next door, but he cannot bring himself to tell her. When his owners shower him with treats and toys and set out the flavored toilet water, Bull works out what the gesture means: he is booked to be neutered in the morning, the way Luther, a Great Dane, once was. He refuses his friends' comfort, runs off, and is cornered by a pack of alley cats before Rocco, Fetch and Lucky find him. Rocco proposes one last night on the town before Bull goes home.

- Warner Bros. and New Line dropped Fixed as part of cost-saving measures by parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, and the distribution rights went back to Sony Pictures Animation, which shopped the finished film to other studios and streamers.
- With Netflix uninterested in January 2024 because its animation film team focused on family films, Genndy Tartakovsky offered to rent out a theater for three months and pay for it himself; in early 2025 Netflix's adult animation team took over and the film sold within weeks.
- Genndy Tartakovsky first conceived the film in 2009 as an animal road-trip movie called Buds, and after an executive said it needed a stronger hook he pitched a dog who learns he will be neutered in the morning. It was later titled The Shift before becoming Fixed.
- Tartakovsky considered using computer animation to "better sell the film" but kept it hand-drawn, making Fixed the first hand-drawn film to be produced by Sony Pictures Animation.
