Plot summary
Harry is a freelancer who shares his days with Jolly, his dog. Harry also owes a sizable sum to several people, a debt that came from his refusal to do them a favor, and he plans to leave town before it comes due. After a night of drinking with his cousin Cecil, he returns home to find Jolly dead. Grieving and furious, he asks Cecil to help him find whoever killed her. Harry keeps a stockpile of guns in the trunk of his car, and the two set off on an alcohol-fueled hunt. Their search begins at a bar, where they question Thomas, a bartender.
