Biography

Billy Crystal is an American comedian, actor and filmmaker who came up through stand-up and improv before finding success on television and in film. Born in New York City in 1948, he played Jodie Dallas on the sitcom Soap from 1977 to 1981 and was a cast member on Saturday Night Live during the 1984 to 1985 season. His films include Running Scared (1986), Throw Momma from the Train (1987), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), City Slickers (1991) and Analyze This (1999), and he voices Mike Wazowski in the Monsters, Inc. movies. He hosted the Academy Awards ceremony on nine occasions between 1990 and 2012, won a Tony Award for his one-man show 700 Sundays, and has taken six Primetime Emmy Awards, a Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Kennedy Center Honors.
