Biography

Clea DuVall is an American actor and filmmaker from Los Angeles. She studied at a Los Angeles County arts high school and made her screen debut in the horror film Little Witches (1996). Her breakthrough came with The Faculty (1998), and she followed it with roles in But I'm a Cheerleader (1999), Girl, Interrupted (1999), and She's All That (1999). Later films included Ghosts of Mars (2001), Identity (2003), 21 Grams (2003), Zodiac (2007), The Grudge (2004), and Argo (2012), the last earning her a SAG Award as part of its cast. On television she appeared in Carnivàle, Heroes, American Horror Story, Veep, and The Handmaid's Tale. She wrote, produced, and starred in her directorial debut The Intervention (2016) and wrote and directed Happiest Season (2020). She also created the series High School.

    DuVall wrote, produced and starred in The Intervention (2016), which was also her feature directorial debut. Paramount Pictures picked up the comedy-drama after it premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
