Plot summary
Preston and Preston is a law firm built on the idea that anyone accused of a crime should have a defense. Its senior partner, Lawrence Preston, has lost his eldest son and his law partner, so he asks his granddaughter M.J., a onetime prosecutor, and his son Don, who teaches law, to take up the work. A man comes home from prison to the neighborhood where he raped a young girl, and her father kills him. The father is unrepentant and gives the lawyers no help in finding anything that might mitigate what he did, and the Prestons take the case.
