Plot summary

Faith Ferguson, a bright teenager, learns from her mother that she will pass Easter at her Catholic girls' school instead of going home. She rooms with the rebellious Jamie and comes to bond with her and with Erica, Gina, Nicole and Kelsey, the other students who had to stay behind. Work on the school's church turns up a Satanic temple holding the mummified remains of schoolgirls thought to have disappeared about a hundred years earlier. One night the girls slip into the temple while the school sleeps and find an old book in Latin. Faith translates it: the book sets out a spell that summons a demon. Jamie and a few of the others want to cast it, but Faith hesitates, because the spell calls for a virgin sacrifice.
