Biography
Patrick Allen was a British actor who worked across film, television and theater. He was born in Nyasaland, where his father farmed tobacco, and completed his education in Canada before gaining experience as a local radio broadcaster and appearing in television plays. His screen debut came in Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M for Murder (1954), and he built a long career in character parts, among them Captain Clegg (1962), Puppet on a Chain (1970), The Wild Geese (1978), The Sea Wolves (1980) and Who Dares Wins (1982). He headlined the adventure series Crane and the BBC1 series Brett, and played Colonel Sebastian Moran in two Sherlock Holmes series. On stage he took roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His voice brought him narration and dubbing work, including the part of Rex for Leon Greene in The Devil Rides Out (1968) and Captain Star in TUGS.
