Plot summary
Hostile aliens abduct people and animals, kill them and take their body parts, and some of them disguise themselves as humans to infiltrate the planet. In 1980 the founding of SHADO, the Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization, creates a secret military body to answer the threat. Its command center sits beneath a film studio in London. From a lunar base, Interceptors stand ready against incoming craft, while an early warning satellite, S.I.D., watches for approaching UFOs, and a fleet of submarines patrols as well. General James Henderson and Commander Ed Straker lead the trained men and women who fight the hostile craft that keep arriving.
