The Mark of the Hawk (1957) on Netflix

Plot summary

The homeland Obam comes back to is a British colony in Africa, and it has split into two hostile camps. Many Africans demand the return of ancestral lands that European settlers now farm, and the colonial authorities will not release their hold on those lands. Obam has spent years abroad and hopes for a political post; his brother Kanda leads an indigenous resistance, and his own people doubt his motives, Kanda among them. Rather than turn to violence, Obam works for racial equality by peaceful means, helped by his wife Renee and by the missionary Bruce Craig, and tries to make a difference before the situation deteriorates further.
