Charles Gray
Biography
Charles Gray was an English actor who left a clerk's job in his mid-twenties to take up the stage, getting his start at a theater club in Bournemouth and making his first professional appearance as Charles the Wrestler in As You Like It. He trained vocally with the Royal Shakespeare Company and performed at the Old Vic and the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. On screen he became a character actor, appearing opposite Laurence Olivier in The Entertainer (1960) before breaking through in 1967 with The Night of the Generals and as Dikko Henderson in You Only Live Twice (1967). He played Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Diamonds Are Forever (1971), and was later the Criminologist who narrates The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Mycroft Holmes in The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1976) and on television. He died in 2000.
