Marjorie Bennett
Biography
Marjorie Bennett was an Australian actress who worked largely in the United States, starting out during the silent film era in 1917. She moved into talking pictures with small roles in Monsieur Verdoux (1947) and Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff (1949), and played Charlie Chaplin's landlady in Limelight (1952). On television she became a familiar face, appearing repeatedly on The Real McCoys and The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and guesting on I Love Lucy and Wagon Train. She played Victor Buono's mother in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) and an elderly gardener in Charley Varrick (1973). Later television work included Mission: Impossible, Adam-12, CHiPs and Night Gallery, and she appeared in commercials during the 1970s. Her last screen role came in 1980 on Barney Miller. She died in 1982.
