Plot summary
Abner Audubon Peacock is an ornithologist who publishes The Peacock, a birdwatching magazine. The magazine is in financial crisis, so he takes on a new partner, Osborn Tremaine. Tremaine's agenda is a sexy men's magazine, and his wife, Evelyn, is in on the plan. A conviction for mailing obscene material bars Tremaine from publishing such a magazine himself, so taking over Abner's magazine is the only route.
