Forrest Taylor
Biography
Forrest Taylor was an American character actor whose screen career stretched over six decades, from silent films to talkies and into color. Born in Bloomington, Illinois, he was a stage veteran before he began appearing as a silent leading man in shorts and features. He took prime roles in films such as The Terror of Twin Mountains (1915) and Sunset Country (1915), then returned to the screen in 1926 with A Poor Girl's Romance. During the 1930s he became a supporting player in B-westerns and serials, often cast as an action or brains heavy, and later moved into kindly parts, including heroines' fathers, lawmen, and scientists. His Broadway work included We, the People (1932) and Open House (1947). On television he costarred as Grandpa Fisher on This Is the Life from 1952 to 1954, appeared on Cheyenne in 1960, and stopped acting in 1963 after an episode of Ripcord. Bitter Creek (1954) was his final film.
