Plot summary
A chemical research scientist, Nora Goodrich keeps postponing her marriage to Dr. Stephen Lindstrom. Her assistant and friend Arline Cole warns her not to put him off much longer. Nora has invented an anesthetic that she predicts will cause vivid dreams and hallucinations before it puts a subject completely under, and she carries the materials home to try the drug on herself. The substance is volatile and can explode into flame if it is mishandled. Backing out of her parking space, she knocks down Jane Karaski, who is not hurt and says the fault was her own. A lawyer named J.W. Rinse hands both women his card and pushes for a lawsuit.
