Cy Kendall

Biography

Cy Kendall was an American actor who worked steadily in Hollywood from 1935 to 1950, appearing in more than 140 films. Born in St. Louis, he had a heavy build, a square jaw and a deep voice, qualities that fitted him for tough and authoritative roles. Over the course of his career, he was often cast as policemen and police chiefs, prison wardens, military officers, bartenders, newspaper reporters and gangsters. Away from the screen, Kendall also performed on radio and early television. In the radio drama The Remarkable Miss Tuttle he played Judge Carter, and on the television game show Armchair Detective he took the role of detective Jonas Flint. He died in 1953.
