Kenne Duncan

Biography

Kenne Duncan was a Canadian-born American character actor whose low-budget screen career spanned more than 250 credits, and studio publicity dubbed him the Meanest Man in the Movies. He was born Kenneth Duncan MacLachlan in Chatham, Ontario, and before acting he worked as a jockey, winning a steeplechase at Montreal's Blue Bonnets raceway. Westerns dominated his film work, though he also took roles in horror, crime drama, science fiction, and serials. He was perhaps best remembered for appearing in five Ed Wood productions, including Night of the Ghouls (1959), Trick Shooting with Kenne Duncan, Crossroad Avenger, and The Sinister Urge; another Wood-written film he made was The Lawless Rider, directed by Yakima Canutt. His final screen work came in The Sinister Urge and a bit part on Rawhide. He also appeared in television Westerns such as The Cisco Kid, Bat Masterson, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, and Tombstone Territory, and he retired from filmmaking in 1961.
