Plot summary
Lex Luthor's orbital satellite Lex 9000 fails to destroy the arriving Brainiac, who seizes his laboratories to gather the planet's data and take charge of its weapons systems. Luthor hopes a victory over the intruder will raise him above Superman in the public eye. Superman reaches the labs, finds Brainiac downloading files on LexCorp weaponry, and freezes him with his ice breath. Luthor recovers the invader's intact brain chip and restores him, proposing a bargain: Brainiac defeats Superman using LexCorp technology and a strain of Kryptonite collected far out in space, then Luthor drives him off Earth as a hero and Brainiac is free to conquer other planets. Brainiac accepts and rebuilds himself inside the satellite. In Metropolis, Clark Kent weighs telling Lois Lane his secret.
