Tom Cruise is an American actor and producer, born in Syracuse, New York, in 1962, who started acting in the early 1980s and broke through with Risky Business (1983) and Top Gun (1986). Playing Ron Kovic in Born on the Fourth of July (1989) won him a Golden Globe and his first Academy Award nomination. He later became a star of action and science-fiction pictures, performing many of his own risky stunts, and played Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible series from 1996 to 2025. His credits also include Minority Report (2002), Collateral (2004), War of the Worlds (2005), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), and Top Gun: Maverick (2022).
