Plot summary
Bunker Hill Military Academy has stood for 141 years, and its board of trustees has agreed to sell the grounds to real estate developers. The school will stay open one more year so that the seniors can graduate, and General Harlan Bache, its commander, and Cadet Major Brian Moreland, newly promoted to the rank, still hope the place can be saved. A brawl with teenagers from town breaks out outside a school dance; Bache is arrested afterward and hospitalized in critical condition, and the board decides to shut the academy at once. Moreland and the cadet officers take over the campus. When the dean and the sheriff come to clear out the armory, armed cadets stop them, and Moreland demands a meeting with Bache and talks with the trustees.
