Early training
Rachel Griffiths was rejected by the National Institute of Dramatic Art, so she joined the Woolly Jumpers, a community theater group in Geelong, instead.
Behind the camera
In 1991, Griffiths wrote and performed a one-woman show titled Barbie Gets Hip, which was staged at the Melbourne Fringe Festival that same year.
A role that slipped away
In November 2013, The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Griffiths would play Julia Gillard in a television drama drawn from Kerry-Anne Walsh's book, The Stalking of Julia Gillard. The project stalled after Australian television networks rejected the proposal.
