Plot summary
Kathy Jacquard, newly separated from her husband, takes a job as a nurse at an isolated psychiatric clinic and is eager to prove herself. One patient is Patrick, a comatose young man whose only movement is involuntary spitting. Her employer, Doctor Roget, insists the patient cannot truly answer anything around him, and the experiments he and Matron Cassidy perform on Patrick appall her. Kathy finds a way to reach him, and he seems to answer.
