Marshall Thompson
Biography
Marshall Thompson was an American actor who worked in film and television, and he moved from Peoria, Illinois, to California with his parents at the age of one. Universal Pictures signed him in 1943, and he played quiet, thoughtful teenagers there before joining MGM in 1946, where his roles improved in films such as The Clock and Battleground. He narrated Stars in My Crown (1950) at 24, then worked as a freelance actor in the 1950s in horror and science fiction pictures including Cult of the Cobra (1955), Fiend Without a Face (1958), First Man into Space (1959) and It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958), and starred in the short-lived series World of Giants. He later co-starred in the CBS sitcom Angel, played Marsh Tracy in Clarence, the Cross-Eyed Lion (1965), a part he repeated in the series Daktari, and appeared in The Turning Point (1977), Bog (1979) and The Formula (1980).

Thompson had a starring role as Carruthers in It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958). That film was one of two genre movies that later gave director Ridley Scott the plot for his 1979 big-budget feature Alien.
