Argentina Brunetti
Biography
Argentina Brunetti was an Argentine actress and writer who worked in film and on stage. Born in Buenos Aires to Italian parents, she started performing at three with a walk-on in the opera Cavalleria rusticana, then followed her mother, the Sicilian actress Mimi Aguglia, in supporting stage roles across Europe and South America. Contracted to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1937, she dubbed Italian-language voices for Jeanette MacDonald and Norma Shearer and narrated for Voice of America. Her film debut, in It's a Wonderful Life (1946), cast her as Mrs. Maria Martini. She wrote and performed for daily radio programs, joined the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and wrote articles, books and music. In all she appeared in almost 70 films and nearly 60 television programs, among them a 1998 episode of Everybody Loves Raymond, and her last role was in 2002.
