Richard Rober
Biography
Richard Rober was an American stage and film actor who started out in theater in the 1930s, working at first as Richard Rauber. After graduating from the University of Rochester he won a small part in a Lyceum Players production that starred Louis Calhern, and he went on to appear with repertory companies across the East Coast, including the original Chicago cast of Born Yesterday and the long-running Oklahoma!. He moved to Hollywood in 1947 and made his screen debut in Call Northside 777 (1948), then turned out dozens of B-movies and film noir dramas, among them The File on Thelma Jordon (1949), Sierra (1950) and The Well (1951), which gave him a starring role. He also played the lead in the MGM production The Devil Makes Three (1952) and, shortly before his death that year, in the television film Corny Johnson.
