David Janssen

Biography

David Janssen was an American actor who worked in film and television. He made his first film appearance at thirteen and, by twenty-five, had twenty films behind him and two years of Army service. He was best known for the part of Richard Kimble in The Fugitive, which aired from 1963 to 1967. He also played the title characters in Richard Diamond, Private Detective, O'Hara, U.S. Treasury, and Harry O. His films included To Hell and Back, Hell to Eternity, John Wayne's The Green Berets (1968), Marooned (1969) opposite Gregory Peck, and Warning Shot (1966). He was John Jacob Astor in the miniseries S.O.S. Titanic (1979) and narrated Centennial. In 1996, TV Guide placed him at number 36 in its list of the 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time.
