Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise (2006) on Netflix

Plot summary

The body pulled from a lake in Paradise, Massachusetts, is a pregnant fourteen-year-old girl who drowned, the autopsy reports. A high school ring found near the corpse leads chief of police Jesse Stone to headmistress Lilly Summers, who identifies its owner, athlete William Hooker Royce; Royce says he dated a girl named Billie Bishop. Lilly tells Stone that Billie had been an A-student before something changed her after she arrived in town two years earlier, and that Billie's parents had thrown her out of their home. Stone, a former Los Angeles homicide detective forced to resign over his drinking, lives alone on the water with his dog Reggie. His department also handles a domestic violence complaint against Jerry Snyder, who beats his wife.
