Biography

John Ortiz is an American actor who made his film debut in 1993 as Al Pacino's young cousin Guajiro in Carlito's Way (1993). He is known for playing Arturo Braga in Fast & Furious (2009) and its follow-up Fast & Furious 6 (2013), and Clyde in Jack Goes Boating (2010), a role that brought an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best supporting actor. His many other films include American Gangster (2007) as Javy Rivera, Silver Linings Playbook (2012) as Ronnie, Miami Vice (2006) as drug lord Jose Yero, and Bumblebee (2018) as scientist Dr. Powell. On television he has taken a lead role in Hope Against Hope, an HBO series from J. J. Abrams, and been a series regular on The Job, Clubhouse, and Blue Blood. He co-founded the LAByrinth Theater Company and serves as its artistic director, and he made his Broadway debut in 2003 in Anna in the Tropics.
