Plot summary
Less than an hour before the Macintosh's unveiling at the Flint Center in 1984, the machine's voice demo fails, and Steve Jobs orders Andy Hertzfeld to repair it. Jobs, who co-founded Apple and wants his products to stay exactly as he designed them, complains to Joanna Hoffman, his head of marketing, about a Time article on his paternity dispute with his former girlfriend Chrisann Brennan; he denies that her five-year-old daughter, Lisa, is his. Brennan arrives to confront him, angry that he will not support the girl despite his wealth, and he and Lisa bond over her MacPaint drawings. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak asks him to credit the Apple II team onstage, and he refuses.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Steve Jobs (2015)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- David Fincher negotiated to direct with Christian Bale as his pick for Steve Jobs, but left in April 2014 over contractual disputes. Danny Boyle took over, and after Leonardo DiCaprio dropped out, Bale, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Bradley Cooper were all considered for the lead.
- Kate Winslet got the part of Joanna Hoffman by having a short, dark wig bought, photographing herself in it and sending the picture to producer Scott Rudin. Danny Boyle then came to Melbourne, met her, and gave her the role.
- After the December 2014 Sony Pictures hack, leaked emails revealed that casting demands were delaying production and that Tom Cruise, Matthew McConaughey and Charlize Theron had met to discuss roles in the film.
- To distinguish the film's three product-launch acts, Danny Boyle and cinematographer Alwin Küchler used a different film format for each: 16 mm for 1984, 35 mm for 1988 and digital for 1998.
- Composer Daniel Pemberton matched the score's three sections to the acts: analog synthesizers no newer than 1984, such as the Roland SH-1000 and Yamaha CS-80; a more operatic second act; and a digital third act he wrote on his own iMac.
- Costume designer Suttirat Anne Larlarb said the real Steve Jobs never wore his trademark turtleneck sweater at any of the three launches, and that in 1998 he wore a dark grayish/brownish suit, which the production made as a back-up.
- Editor Elliot Graham started cutting Steve Jobs before principal photography was finished, working on footage during the one-week rehearsals between each of the three acts and getting notes from Danny Boyle in the editing room.
