Plot summary
Captured Xenomorphs and a dead comrade are aboard a Yautja scout ship leaving Earth when a chestburster emerges and matures into the Predalien; the craft goes down in woodland outside Gunnison, Colorado. The hybrid gets free with facehuggers that implant several people nearby. On the Yautja home world, a veteran cleaner named Wolf picks up the distress signal and comes to Earth to kill the hybrid and wipe out every Xenomorph. Dallas Howard, newly released from prison, returns to town and rejoins his younger brother Ricky, while Kelly O'Brien comes home from the army reserves to her husband Tim and daughter Molly. Sheriff Eddie Morales and the other residents are caught between the creatures.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Directing brothers Colin and Greg Strause ran the effects themselves: their company Hydraulx made 460 of the film's 500 visual effects shots, building the nuclear blast with Maya fluids and a BA Volume Shader, and creating the Predator ship's interior entirely in CGI because a real set cost more.
- Colin Strause said that apart from the exterior spaceship shots the film contains no pure CG shots, with as much as possible captured in camera. The Alien tails and inner jaws were the exception, done digitally where earlier films had used puppeteers and wire removal.
- The directors hoped to bring back Adam Baldwin as Agent Garber, the character he played in Predator 2, but could not get him. The military role was rewritten as a new character and given to Robert Joy instead.
