John Alderson

Biography

John Alderson was an English actor who worked on screen for almost forty years, from 1951 to 1990. He was noted for the lead role in the syndicated western series Boots and Saddles, which ran for a single season of thirty-eight episodes in 1957 and 1958. Elsewhere on television he played the historical trail guide Hugh Glass in a 1966 episode of Death Valley Days, Hugh Glass Meets the Bear. Born in Horden, County Durham, into a mining family, he spent a short time at a colliery as a teenager, then joined the Royal Artillery and rose to the rank of Major. After leaving the service he moved to the United States and took up acting, going on to appear largely in supporting film parts.
