Donovan's Reef (1963) on Netflix

Plot summary

Two decades after the war, Thomas Gilhooley jumps ship and swims ashore at Haleakaloha, the French Polynesian island where his old shipmate Michael Donovan runs a saloon. Donovan's close friend William "Doc" Dedham, the only doctor in the archipelago, asks him to look after his three children while he visits the islands for two weeks. In Boston, Amelia Dedham takes the chairmanship of the Dedham Shipping Company, whose majority stock belongs to the father she has never met; she travels to Haleakaloha to prove that he violated a morality clause in the family will. Hearing that she is coming, the Marquis de Lage joins Donovan and Gilhooley in a plan: Donovan will pose as the father of Dedham's children until the doctor returns. Lelani, the eldest, accepts it reluctantly.
