Biography

Dylan McDermott is an American actor from Waterbury, Connecticut, who studied with Sanford Meisner at the Neighborhood Playhouse and made his screen debut in Hamburger Hill (1987). After Steel Magnolias (1989), his first major break came with In the Line of Fire (1993). Through his connection with Clint Eastwood, McDermott secured the lead part of lawyer Bobby Donnell on The Practice, which he played from 1997 to 2004 and which earned him a Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy nomination. He starred in the remake of Miracle on 34th Street (1994) and appeared in Home for the Holidays (1995). He also played serial killer Don Burnside in The Clovehitch Killer (2018). On television he played Ben Harmon and other roles across four seasons of American Horror Story, led the TNT series Dark Blue, and starred in Hostages and Stalker. He later took the role of crime lord Richard Wheatley on Law & Order: Organized Crime.
